What Columbus businesses bring to the table
Apparel and consumer brands
Brands headquartered around Columbus sell through stores, wholesale partners and their own websites, and need one stock picture across all three.
- โItem variants
- โShopify connector
- โCustomer price groups
3PL and distribution operators
Warehouses near the rail terminals and the cargo airport at Rickenbacker handle goods for many owners and bill for the service.
- โDirected put-away
- โStorage billing
- โCarrier labels
Insurance agencies and advisors
Agencies, claims service firms and consultancies need commissions, project time and clean departmental reporting more than inventory.
- โDimensions by office
- โProject billing
- โPower BI
Food and beverage producers
Snack, bakery and beverage makers supplying Ohio grocers need lot tracing and fast recall answers.
- โLot tracking
- โExpiry dates
- โRetailer EDI
The warehouse is usually where the project turns
In Columbus, the design question that shapes the rest of the project is almost always the warehouse. Business Central offers several levels of warehouse handling, from basic inventory picks on the order itself to full receipts, put-aways, picks and shipments with bins and zones. A small brand with one building rarely needs the full stack. A 3PL moving freight for a dozen clients nearly always does.
We choose the level with your operations manager, not in a conference room. That means walking one inbound truck and one outbound order through the proposed process, counting the scans and clicks, and asking the people on the floor whether it works. Handheld scanning usually comes through an AppSource app, and we plan that choice early because it affects labels and bin codes.
Finance still gets its share. Landed cost through item charges, inventory valuation that matches the general ledger at month-end, and a close checklist the controller can run without calling IT.

Columbus companies ask us
Is Business Central strong enough for a 3PL?
For many small and mid-sized 3PLs, yes. Warehouse receipts, put-aways, picks and bins handle the physical side well, and you can own stock records on behalf of clients. Billing for storage and handling needs careful design, sometimes with an extension. Very high-volume operations with complex slotting may still need a dedicated warehouse system connected to Business Central.
Can we see stock across a Columbus warehouse and stores?
Yes, each building or store becomes a location, and availability shows by location on every item. Transfers move stock between them with a clear audit trail. Online orders can reserve from the warehouse while store sales draw from local stock. We set the rules with your merchandising team.
Do you work with insurance agencies that carry no inventory?
Yes, and the setup is lighter. The focus is the chart of accounts, dimensions by office and producer, commission tracking and reporting in Power BI. Agency management systems usually stay in place and post summaries to Business Central. We agree which system owns which data before building any link.
How are you set up to serve Columbus from Phoenix?
Remotely, over video, on Eastern hours. Columbus runs two or three hours ahead of Arizona, so we schedule sessions from early in our day. When a warehouse walk would change the design, we arrange a trip and agree it in writing first.
