Poultry, peanuts and pecans
Georgia is a leading poultry state and a major peanut and pecan producer, with processors that need tight lot control.

Local option taxes and how we map them
Georgia's sales tax is administered by the Georgia Department of Revenue, but the rate a customer pays depends on where the goods are delivered, because counties add local option taxes for purposes such as schools and capital projects. A Georgia distributor delivering across many counties can face many different combined rates.
In Business Central that means a state jurisdiction plus a jurisdiction for each local layer you deliver into, grouped into tax areas assigned by ship-to address. For companies with a modest delivery footprint, maintaining those tables by hand is fine. For wide delivery areas or ecommerce sales, a connected engine such as Avalara usually earns its keep by keeping rates current. Exemptions, including those that may apply to manufacturing equipment or agricultural inputs, should be confirmed with your tax advisor and then recorded on the relevant customers and items.
Use tax is the item most often missed. When an out-of-state vendor charges no Georgia tax on something you consume, use tax may be owed. We set up use tax handling on purchase documents so it is captured at the time of posting rather than found at audit.

How we run statewide Georgia engagements
- 1
Map sites and flows
We draw your locations, the goods moving between them and the customers they serve, which shapes the warehouse and tax design.
- 2
Write the scope
Modules, integrations, data migration and reports are agreed in writing before configuration.
- 3
Configure and test remotely
Weekly video sessions keep each area visible while your team tests with its own documents.
- 4
On-site when the plant matters
A mill floor or a cross-dock warehouse is worth seeing in person; those days are planned ahead.
- 5
Cutover and first close
We go live at a period start and stay close through the first month-end.
Georgia businesses ask
How does Business Central deal with Georgia's county-level taxes?
It combines a state jurisdiction with county jurisdictions in tax areas, assigned by the delivery address. Invoices then show the right combined tax for each destination. If you deliver across much of the state or sell online, a tax engine such as Avalara can maintain the rates for you. Your tax advisor should confirm rates and exemptions.
Can Business Central handle EDI with big retailers and automotive customers?
Yes, through an EDI provider connected to Business Central. Orders, advance ship notices and invoices flow between your trading partners and the system. The EDI provider handles each partner's format, and we connect it to your sales and warehouse process.
Is Business Central strong enough for a flooring or battery plant?
For many mid-sized plants it is, with production orders, routings, variants and capacity planning. Very high-volume or process-intensive operations may need add-ons or a larger platform such as Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. We look at your volumes and processes before recommending one.
Do you have an Atlanta page?
Yes, the Atlanta page covers projects in the metro area specifically. Companies elsewhere in Georgia, from Savannah to Dalton, get the same remote-first service planned around their sites.
